Upper Lip Hair Removal

Upper Hair can be an embarrassment to anyone who suffers from this condition. Psychological scarring can start as early as puberty from teasing and taunting from peers. Although most women do have a little bit of hair above their upper lip, it is a problem if the woman has dark hair or if the hair is thick or coarse. This condition is known as hiritism. Hiritism can be caused by many medical conditions including hormonal imbalances, polycystic ovarian syndrome and even as a side effect to some medications.

There are many ways both temporary and permanent that gets rid of upper lip hair. Shaving is a popular way to get rid of hair from other parts of the body but no so with the upper lip because of the stubble and ingrown hairs that it leaves behind. Waxing is a popular way to get rid of upper lip hair until you get burned or your skin looses its suppleness leaving wrinkles behind. Depilatory creams are dangerous to use near the mouth. Electrolysis is very painful when used on the upper lip because of how sensitive the area is. Laser Hair Removal is often the perfect technique because of its permanency and lack of side effects.

Laser Hair Removal works at the cellular level while it destroys the root so it no longer can produce new hairs. Unlike electrolysis, Laser Hair Removal is quick in comparison because it can treat more than one hair at a time. And with electrolysis you would need between 15 and 30 visits each lasting around 20 to 30 minutes. With Laser Hair Removal you would need between three and eight visits each lasting approximately about 45 seconds so you will be in and out the door in a flash. Just look at how much time it saves. Imagine that after you complete your first session you will already notice a 20 percent reduction in the amount of hair above your upper lip. Each zap of the laser treats several hair roots above your upper lip at a time.

To prepare for your initial treatment you should try to avoid sun exposure. If you must be out in the sun you should use at least a 30 SPF sunscreen. If you fail to use sunscreen, you are risking a skin color change that could end up being permanent. You should also shave above your upper lip the day before your treatment. By shaving the laser will be able to discriminate between a hair and root and will work more effectively. Also, if you avoid caffeinated beverages you will be able to relax during the procedure.

When you come in for your consultation we will be able to explain the procedure to you and answer any questions that you may have.
